HISTORY

It stands for Amparo Paradise; others call it an American Paradise. Literally, it means Protective Paradise from the words Amparar and Paraiso. Whichever it may be, Amparaiso is a haven, a Shangri-la for all families. This is what makes it the Family Escape to Paradise that is now.

The name Amparaiso was conceived by Marc Santa Maria of New York and Amparo - born General Alfonso T. de los Santos, whose daughter Lara, dubbed it YOUR FAMILY ESCAPE TO PARADISE.

THE RISE OF AMPARAISO:

The property, an ancestral home of the Tan-de los Santos clan, was inherited by Mrs. Asuncion DLS - Santa Maria. Encouraged by brothers, Atty. Fabian and Gen. Isagani T. de los Santos, the Santa Marias developed the area into a family resort.

The first to rise was the octagonal CLUBHOUSE designed by the Santa Marias. The construction was done under the auspices of Atty. Fabian T. de los Santos.

The stagnant LAGOON was dredged and transformed into a fish pond teeming with tilapia, bangus, shrimps, and crabs where guests enjoy fishing to their hearts' desire. An image of NUESTRA SENORA DE LA ASUNCION was placed at the center of the lake where two bridges meet.

The SWIMMING POOL designed by the General brothers, Isagani and Alfonso, and Mr. Alejandro B. Santa Maria was added.

The CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND is a gift of the DLS second generation siblings in cooperation with the Barangay Council to the children of Amparo and is lovingly dedicated to the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Felipe de los Santos.

Finally, the three-storey HOTEL BUILDING, the first of its kind in Amparo, is a fitting tribute to the late Atty. Fabian T. de los Santos whose final request was to build a FUNCTION HOUSE and HOTEL in line with his vision of turning AMPARAISO into the prime, full fledged resort destination in Southern Leyte.

VISION AND PHILOSOPHY:

AMPARAISO was primarily envisioned to serve and help develop the community, and not just for commercial purposes. The project aims to help Amparo by creating jobs for its people providing them with marketable skills and training. The founders dream of making it an inspiration for entrepreneurs, both foreign and local, in the region.

Finally, AMPARAISO was created to foster family values by providing guests with healthy, wholesome, and fun lifestyle activities for everyone. Basic family values of cooperation, sharing, unity and most of all, LOVE, are the secrets to its success.
